Our Son (in-law) the Celebrity!

On Wednesday, April 15th, Danny was featured in an article in the local paper. Of course, he never said anything about it to us, so we found out from our friends and neighbors who gave us the paper! The paper quality was not so good, so it did not scan well, but this is what it says:
Danny Mainprize, a technical support specialist, at Southwest Georgia Technical Colleg has been honored with the college's first President's Leadership Award. Mainprize has worked at SWGTC for six years and is a graduate of the computer information systems program at SWGTC.

"I was surprised and honored by this award," he said. "I enjoy working here and am glad to have the opportunity to be able to use all that I learned as a student here in my position. It is wonderful to be able to do something that you enjoy."

"He is an outstanding employee and a pleasure to work with, He always goes above and beyond what is asked of him and he is very deserving of this recognition, " Steve McCoy, director of technology services said of Mainprize.

The President's Leadership Award is an award that was developed to recognize a full-time employee for their professional excellance and outstanding contributions to the college."

"Danny has always been a very creative and innovative employee who loves to find new ways to improve the college's information technology systems, " said Dr. Glen Deibert, president of SWGTC.

"During the fall of 2006, Danny was charged with learning a new software system called Cold Fusion and implementing the system to make all of our data sharing processes more efficient. As a result. many of our academic affairs, student affairs and institutional effectiveness processes are now electronically driven and located on the college's intranet. He is the perfect example of what this award is meant to exemplify and we are pleased to have someone like Danny on our staff," Deibert said.

The award will be given quarterly to the employee that the President's Leadership Council selects as most deserving. Award winner's names will be displayed on a college plaque and they will be recognized at the quarterly president's reception. Winners will also be presented with gift certificates to local restaurants and cinemas.

"There are so many on our faculty and staff that go above and beyond that we could almost give everyone such an award. We will review the suggestions and select one person each quarter, "Deibert said.

Mainprize and his wife, Stephanie, have two children, Ethan, age three, and Emily, four months.

And, as much as I harass Danny (and vice versa) this is a well-deserved award! We are so proud!
