Yes, we survived--the wind, the rain, the crazy weekend weather! Thankfully, nothing came about except for the leak in the roof of our rental home. Quite frankly, I've had enough with water!!
However, we are really not handling the struggle with our mortgage company well. Here is the latest:
I got off the phone with the mortgage company this morning to find out....nothing. Yesterday, we received a letter that all was rejected and that we were to contact the short sale division! WHAT!? In short, I went ballistic!
We have perfect credit---have NEVER, EVER missed a payment....and we get a letter about a short sale and foreclosure!? The poor girl who happened to answer the phone last night was blasted by me! I demanded that someone call in the morning for resolution (of course, the mortgage company is in California---three hours earlier than we are! Ugh!!). Last night Dave and I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in Santa Barbara, California.
I didn't sleep much last night as you can imagine!
At 11:30 am EST I called them. I threatened with the following (after telling them that we had already filed the complaint with the BBB):
1) My lawyer.
2) A media frenzy - let's tell the world that Countrywide and Freddie Mac are filled with low-life incompetents, etc. etc. and that they have been holding up our funds for over 4 months!
3) Report my insurance monies as STOLEN with the county the company is in.
Funny thing happened:
a) the letter was in "error"
b) they are awaiting a letter of approval from Freddie Mac (I've heard that one before)
c) I now have a representative "working" on our account
If no resolution comes about within a week or two---please refer to the top three items---because that is what I will be doing!!
Please pray for us!!

A Quick Note
Hi Everyone!
As Stefanie wrote we are stressed, but doing OK. Please be patient with us as we try to get everything worked out with our insurance company, FEMA, etc. We are numb right now--exhausted physically and mentally. But, we are counting our blessings that we are all well and safe.
Please keep us in your prayers--that's probably what we need most right now. I will post more pictures when we have a moment and I can find a way to get the pictures out of my camera (I used to use the memory card in my printer) but now all I have is my laptop and no cable for my camera. I have TONS of pictures. It is all surreal. I keep waiting to wake up and find out this was all a bad dream....so far that hasn't happened yet. Our dogs are especially stressed.
The real work will be when he water recedes. But, thankfully our church family has been AWESOME!!!!!! Thanks to all of you who have brought your boats, waded in the foul waters, helped pack up that which is still retrievable, providing storage, giving our chickens a temporary home, and the HUNDREDS of little things that are so BIG to us. And, all the help yet to come.
We really are blessed.
Thank you to you all!!
Linda
