Are we magnets for excitement right now?! It sure looks like it. On Thursday afternoon at 3:22pm the fire alarms went off at Dave's work. They all proceeded to exit the building, but to their surprise there was a full-size pickup truck in the lobby of their building. Apparently, the crazed husband of a gal who works there rode his motorcycle to the building, got into his wife's pickup that was parked out in the employee parking lot, and proceeded to drive it through the double doors at the back (employee entrance) of the building. Luckily, the security guard who normally sits at a small desk at this entrance had gotten up to make rounds around the building. Next thing they all knew, the crazed man had entered the building munching both sides of the newer truck, tore out the awning over the entrance way, took out both doors (after "manicuring" the hedge), and proceeded to drive about 50-60 yards inside of the building toward the manufacturing division where his wife works. He slammed into the wall by the cafeteria and then came to an abrupt halt. But, this did not stop him---he threw the truck into reverse and left the building, abandoned the truck in the parking lot, and sped away on his motorcycle. The police finally arrived, but the guy was long gone. Everyone was then asked to pack up and leave.
Well, Dave immediately called me on my cell phone to tell me the excitement. It was amazing. Thankfully, no one was injured! But....this is not where the excitement ended.....
Less than 15 minutes from the time I hung up with Dave, a huge truck that I was following on the highway began to lose one of his tires. It was shredding up and the debris was flying everywhere. I felt like I was driving on an obstacle course! Thankfully, the guy behind me in the other lane was far enough back that I didn't have to be worried about being hit. I never did get hit by the debris, but it came too close for comfort. I felt like I was driving in a movie.
Both of our hearts have restarted....thankfully.
When can we get back to our formerly boring life? Not soon enough.....
