Relay for Life

Every year on the first Friday of May, we participate in the Annual Relay for Life Walk-a-thon. Our church always has a booth and we sell odds and ends (food and treats) to help the Cancer Society. The event always kicks off with a Survivor march and the release of purple and white balloons. There are luminarias and torches that surround the track. This year we made donations in the names of family and friends who have passed away or are survivors of cancer.

Ethan pointed to the butterflies on the luminaria in honor of my grandmother Ruth Buchanan. It was fun searching through the hundreds of bags for familiar names. The bags were decorated by the kids in local schools.
