Oh the Things You Find....STILL Organizing from the Flood

About a month ago I was continuing the organization of all our possessions that were randomly placed in boxes, buckets, and plastic bags when rescued from the flood. Now remember the flood was in AUGUST and these pictures were taken MARCH 30th ~ Look closely at what I found in this random box that has been at the bottom of a huge stack of stuff. It was filled with towels, sheets, etc. and when all of those were removed this was what I found...

Yep, below the linens were items from the kitchen drawer AND a ball from the pool table (in the other room) AND the Bose speaker on the right (from the living room).I had to laugh when I saw this grouping! But, this kind of find is more the rule rather than the exception. What was REALLY interesting was the butter dish...
Yes, that is butter in the butter dish! Surprisingly that cube of butter fared well for sitting in a box for 7 months! Remember that most of this stuff was in a garage for over a month in the Georgia heat before we got it over here to the rental house! Believe it or not, the butter really didn't smell too bad, but it still went directly to the garbage!
So, amidst the mess, there are things that have made me chuckle. This box definitely gave me a giggle! LOL!
However, thankfully, we only have a few more things to sort...
it's been a LONG road. :-)

I don't know how I ended up with boxes like that when we packed up in a slow organized process. Impressive butter! I had a similar experience that didn't turn out as well. I must have been on overload, when I packed up the last boxes to pack in the car, when we moved out here. I packed the butter dish WITH butter in a tupperware box with the spices that I wanted to bring. By the time that box was taken out of the car it was full of butter coated bottles and a big mess! AND it had molded in less than a week. I couldn't figure that one out, but YUCK!
