The Aftermath Part II: Our Afternoon Findings

Since the waters were continuing to rise in the morning, we came back in the afternoon to check everything out. We had pretty much hiked everything up the night before, but still have things in the barn that we were concerned about. We arrived to find that indeed the waters had risen and were now completely up to the house and beyond, but thankfully, were still not inside.

What was so weird about today is that for the past several days the skies have been gray and dreary, and we've had on and off rain and storms. Last night was wild, but this morning and afternoon, the sun was out and the skies were blue. And, the temperatures were in the comfortable low 70s with no humidity. It was absolutely beautiful--which makes it even harder for us to be here. We are still emotionally attached!!

Here are a few more pictures from this afternoon.
Dave coming back from the barn -thankfully, this water is not sewerage filled.
Our front drive--we had very little water here in the morning
Another part of our driveway--this had had almost no water earlier
Looking from the fence that leads out to the pond. This was a bit deeper---about up to your shins
Dave thought he needed to take a picture of me taking a picture of him. LOL!
This is a strip of land between our house and the pond
The other side---all I did was turn around. :-)
The bridge to the pond was floating - we still crossed it one at a time.
Stefanie, Danny, Ethan and Emily came out to check out the affects of the night.
Ethan was excited to be out in the water to explore
We all had to laugh when Ethan picked up the hose!
Emily looking cute in her daddy's arms
Ethan checking out the old pump--we accused him of pumping too much water and filling up our backyard. (the pump does NOT work)
Getting comfy on the tractor seat amidst the waters

We are just so thankful that the waters have stayed down from flooding the inside of our home. Unfortunately our neighbors were not so lucky. Please keep them in your prayers. We are all on an emotional roller coaster right now ~ we all love our homes and land ~ but losing a home which is supposed to be your refuge and safe haven is tough. Some of them are really suffering and we are all trying to support one another.

We are just hoping that Sunday's anticipated storm will not add insult to injury.

We are blessed---no question about it....

Thanks for all your well wishes and prayers---we can definitely feel them!

Cute pictures, amidst devastation. I'm SO glad that the water didn't get in the house. We haven't received much moisture from this storm, yet. I need to look at the weather and see if they've changed it's path, or it's just moving slow.
