Finally....Pictures and an Update of Life

As I sit and listen to the Presidential Debate between presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama, I realize that the entire nation is in serious trouble. It is heartbreaking that our nation's economy has been allowed to falter. As a citizen, I am worried. I pray for our country!

I know it has been a few days since I have updated this blog with information about what is going on. We spent last weekend getting settled in the rental house. We are so thankful for this old house!

Here are some pictures that have been sitting on my camera for awhile. Since it's late and I really don't want to organize them, please bear with me.

The house is drying out nicely. We need to get in and sweep/use the shop vac to vacuum the remaining debris and dust and then we'll hit everything with the fungicide. This picture was taken by me where I was standing in the den and looking into the half bath.

One of the furniture and kitchen cupboard graveyards (our front yard). All but the kitchen cupboards were hauled away. The cupboards are sitting now in the back yard. We'll include them in the next dump run.

This is a closer picture of the sink hole that opened up a week or two after the flood. It is now empty of water, but this was what it did look like for a couple of weeks.

Our friend Amy (who came over for dinner) insisted on putting together a filing cabinet---GO GIRL!!! She is the sweetheart who has let us use her garage to store all of our stuff. We still have another run of stuff to pick up and a run to the dump. Thanks Amy!

I was washing all the linens and I had just tossed the newly clean (and warm) blanket on the bed. Shortly after, this is how we found Ginger!

This is a picture of probably the most generous and sweetest gift we have received. The Sunday following that horrible Saturday night flood, Chandler, age 10 (and Amy's oldest son) brought his 68 cent allowance to us (Thanks Chandler!!). I am so touched by his thoughtfulness:

We continue to count our blessings. We have so much! Although we have lost a lot of worldly "stuff", we have been richly blessed with one another, wonderful friends and family, good jobs, a wonderful rental home, health and strength. We know that we have gained more than we have lost just in prayers. Thanks to all of you!!!
