These pictures are from August 30, September 1st, and September 4th. The water was out of the house by September 1st (however, it was still in the crawl space and all around the outside of the house). Today, September 6th (almost 2 weeks after the storm) most of the water is gone, but the earth is still soft and mushy. The area still smells like a sewer and the mosquitos are swarming.
Blocked off due to the sink hole

The Red Cross provided a barbeque for residents one night

Dave and Danny bringing in the first of the two barrel barn fans we purchased (we couldn't find any to rent, plus by purchasing them, it will actually cost us less in the end than if we were to rent them)

Looking at the barn

Dave's workshop

This door goes to a storage area where we keep our food storage and all our Christmas decorations, etc. Notice the height of the water on the door. We have yet been able to see the aftermath behind this door (too much heavy debris and muck in front)

Our back yard--this is the large pecan tree that fell just before the wrath of Fay caused the water to rise. All the logs around were from the wood pile near the barn---quite a far distance AWAY from the barn. Those logs floated EVERYWHERE!

The front yard...the lingering muck and mosquito breeding ground

The entry way of the house--note the bulge in the hardwood floor--the floor did this throughout

The former log pile---it's now been dispersed everywhere

One end of the house

Our back yard

The front yard

Hauling away the carpeting and pad! The dump charged us to dump this saying that it was "construction waste". We tried to explain that it wasn't, but they didn't believe us.

The carpets and pad were dripping

Out by the barn and swingset

The living room, notice the particle board that has disintegrated. They had put particle board over the plywood subfloor (apparently to keep the floors from squeaking---it must have worked because we never had any squeaky floors). The couch weighs a ton too....

The well and the well housing. The holding tank was full of water and it literally weighed a ton. Danny used a jack to get under it, so it could be pulled upright

It actually drained nice clear water. The well still needs to be chlorinated and the water tested before it can be used. But Dave got the water at least running for now.

More casualties

I really liked this hutch in the living room :-(

We piled all the furniture casualties out under the carport

The guys pulled the piano into the kitchen---they actually were able to play some nice music despite it having been swimming in the game room.

This hole across from the well was gurgling and bubbling. We weren't sure if it was the former well site (before we moved in the previous owners had another well dug) or if it was the beginning of yet another sink hole. The ground is still saturated.
