Saddened but Grateful

Gordon B. Hinckley (1910-2008)I was sad to learn this morning that President Hinckley had passed away last night in Salt Lake City. He was 97 years old. Despite my saddness to lose the leadership of a wonderful, kind, and gentle man, I'm so thrilled that he is reunited with his beloved wife Marjorie, of 67 years, and other friends and family that I am sure he has missed. President Hinckley was a man of honor, integrity, and humor. I'll never forget his testimony and love for the Savior Jesus Christ, and his words of comfort and love. For 13 years this great man led the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with conviction and honor. He was a great example and I will miss him deeply! I loved his wonderful sense of humor. I loved how he poked his colleagues and friends lovingly with his cane, I loved his sharp wit and I'll never forget when he said, "at my age, I don't buy green bananas". I am so grateful for his leadership! I am grateful for his example! I am grateful for his service! I am grateful for having been led by him for the past 13 years! I am grateful for his testimony! I am grateful for the man! I am grateful for the legacy he has left! President Hinckley--thank you!! You will be missed!

Yes, President Hinckley was a great man. I will truly miss him. He has been the Prophet for my adult life. I remember he came to Tulsa in 2006 as part of Youth Conference I think, and I was given special permission to attend. (I was 20 not under 18). That was one of the greatest experiences for me. To be in the same room as a prophet of the one and only true church. Thanks for the great comments about this wonderful man. Yes, he will be missed, but I am also grateful that he is reunited with his wonderful wife.
